our mission

The Wedding Party has created the most visible expressions of the marriage movement. Leading the charge since June 2000, The Wedding Party ceremonies have kicked off the NYC gay pride parade. These landmark ceremonies have brought to the forefront the existing inequality that committed same-sex couples endure while creating a positive and realistic face for same-sex couples across the nation. The Wedding Party events consistently provide high profile media to local, national and international networks and their affiliates.

The Wedding Party is an all volunteer nonprofit* organization that supports and celebrates same-sex partnership, and educates the public on the need for equal marriage rights. The Wedding Party is comprised of skilled professionals in the areas of marketing, media, special events and the law. We produce unique, high profile events that bring the community together to give testimony on a national level to the importance of family, commitment and equality.

Our vision
Is an educated world, free from hatred and fear, where all couples, gay or straight, are treated with respect and given equal rights under the law. A world where honoring commitment in relationships empowers and inspires our community to live a life of dreams fulfilled.

Our goal
Is to foster understanding and tolerance of same sex unions and to educate the public on the need to secure the freedom for same-sex couples to enter into legally-recognized marriages and be granted all the 1,138 federal benefits, legal protections and rights that civil marriage entitles. We plan to change the climate of our country, ensuring equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.
